Love and Compromise.

When 'Love and Compromise' dropped in September last year, literally as I went on holiday, it was everyday Mahalia playing in the rental.

In fact, if I grab September 2019’s playlist, you’ll see how frustrating this must have been for everyone in the car that wasn’t me because at the time of that particular trip, this playlist only stretched from ‘Shameless’ to ‘Heaven’. Those 10 songs (shoutout Jorja Smith, Camila, Iguocho, Miguel, Normani and Richie Campbell) had me vibing for WEEKS.

Anyways, a couple days ago Mahalia tweeted something and I thought you know what, you right bish. You are so right.

So now Love and Compromise is back in my playlist. Incredibly, and this is a REAL first, my top tracks have not changed.

Additionally, I feel like I need to mention that I saw Mahalia live at a MATCHESFASHION event back in March 2019. The girl is a star. Captivating, funny, and absolutely stunning with vocals to match, the only thing better than a Mahalia performance is a stripped back intimate Mahalia set.

If we are gonna use genres still, she’s quality R&B. I’m so happy the UK can claim her as one of our own. She also plays guitar, I have a real thing for artists who play instruments. Check out this performance of her track, Sober:

Oh, and my top 'Love and Compromise' tracks:

He’s Mine

What You Did (ft. Ella Mai)

Square 1

He’s Mine is TOO fun of a track, What You Did is HEAVY on the ‘damnnnnn’, and Square 1 is a nice little soulful joint.

Catch the tracks featuring in August 2020.

I’ll be checking out her Isolation Tapes EP soon too – it's been on my radar for a while.

Love and light, and remember who the f you are. For real. Life is short.
